I appreciate you taking the time to find these, but I'm not comfortable installing files on my server from an anonymous file hosting site. I've looked through the list and installed many of them; the main one I left out was the mobile page one, because the layout it gave, even after using some of the theme options they suggest on the mobile theme page, is far worse than the current theme. I understand why you wouldn't be comfortable downloading anything from that site, but I promise you all the files are safe. I noticed that some of them don't work without configuring them and that's why only the syntax highlighting extensions is working. To fix AbuseFilter add these to the bottom of your 'LocalSettings.php' file.

wfLoadExtension( 'AbuseFilter');

$wgGroupPermissions['sysop']['abusefilter-modify'] = true;

$wgGroupPermissions['*']['abusefilter-log-detail'] = true;

$wgGroupPermissions['*']['abusefilter-view'] = true;

$wgGroupPermissions['*']['abusefilter-log'] = true;

$wgGroupPermissions['sysop']['abusefilter-privatedetails'] = true;

$wgGroupPermissions['sysop']['abusefilter-modify-restricted'] = true;

$wgGroupPermissions['sysop']['abusefilter-revert'] = true;

Also, it seems like you downloaded all the extensions in the MediaWikiLanguageExtensionBundle except, Translate and UniversalLanguageSelector, which are the main 2 extensions to get languages working on this wiki. After you add those files in "extensions" folder, add this configuration to your 'LocalSettings.php' file.

wfLoadExtension( 'Translate' );

$wgGroupPermissions['user']['translate'] = true;

$wgGroupPermissions['user']['translate-messagereview'] = true;

$wgGroupPermissions['user']['translate-groupreview'] = true;

$wgGroupPermissions['user']['translate-import'] = true;

$wgGroupPermissions['sysop']['pagetranslation'] = true;

$wgGroupPermissions['sysop']['translate-manage'] = true;

$wgTranslateDocumentationLanguageCode = 'qqq';

$wgExtraLanguageNames['qqq'] = 'Message documentation'; # No linguistic content. Used for documenting messages

wfLoadExtension( 'UniversalLanguageSelector' );

You, also didn't install the MediaWikiChat extension which doesn't require configuration, I think you should install it because it will probably be the feature that brings the most amount of people to this wiki. Also, run ''"php update.php"'' in your '''"maintenance"''' folder to update the necessary database tables once your done. --[[User:Prince|Prince]] ([[User talk:Prince|talk]]) 18:11, 27 April 2022 (UTC)

Vandalism

Could you consider adding editing captchas? I hate captchas, but I'd rather have captchas than spam. Ahania 06:41, 18 December 2011 (CST)

I'll look into it sometime this week. Someday, I'd like to get e-mail shit straightened out on my server so that I can require verification to register as well. I occasionally check for people blanking stuff in the logs, and delete the pages/accounts that were involved. (bytor, too lazy to log in)

I have zero experience with wiki administration, but perhaps it's possible to create an user group for "confirmed human users" (basically anyone who's been making sensible edits) to bypass the CAPTCHA check. I understand if it's too much of a pain to implement, though. --アラベスク 17:03, 15 December 2012 (UTC)

re: captcha

attempted to create a new page and had to do infinite captchas. intentional? --volatile memory 03:57, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

Lain Visual Novel project?

Hello, I was just browsing this wiki when I found the article on it and it says writer needed on several stories. I think I'd be able to contribute both that and also art if necessary. Please let me know if this project is still going and taking new members.

unfortunately, most of the people involved with it have long since left the community, and the project has sat untouched for several years. Bytor (talk)

-Ah, I understand. That's unfortunate. Thanks for the response (Xanadu)

Templates & Icon

I changed the color scheme of the templates found at the bottom of the pages to suit DarkVector as it was default and the other one looked horrendous. I've also, edited some pages and added pictures, I recommend everyone do to make this wiki strive. Could you please, add an icon in the tab area of this website? Prince 10:13, 30th October 2021 (ETC)

Hello, I got your message. I found a logo you could you as a favicon [1] and one you could use to replace the logo that is always in the top left corner of the wiki. [2] You don't have to use them if you don't like them. Prince (talk) 11:19, 31th October 2021 (ETC)

Extensions

I thought you should add some extensions to the lain wiki. Here is the link to the extension files for the exact version of the lain wiki: https://anonfiles.com/jd0851Zex0/Media_Wiki_Extensions_rar I also, made a READ_ME.txt in there with instructions on how to install them and the code you have to add to your 'LocalSettings.php' file. While your in the 'LocalSettings.php' file could you also, change the site name so it has a capital W. Prince (talk) 19:57, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
