Among other things, he also directed ''Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World'' and ''Shinreigari: Ghost Hound'' (also with [[Chiaki Konaka]]). He contracted pancreatic cancer and passed away in June 29, 2013. His illness and death indefinitely postponed the progress of Despera, a project on which he was collaborating with [[Yoshitoshi ABe]] and Chiaki Konaka.
