Ryuutarou Nakamura (中村 隆太郎, Nakamura Ryuutarou) was the director of Serial Experiments Lain. Among other things, he also directed Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World and Shinreigari: Ghost Hound (also with Chiaki J. Konaka). He contracted pancreatic cancer and passed away on June 29, 2013. His illness and death indefinitely postponed the progress of Despera, a project on which he was collaborating with Yoshitoshi ABe and Chiaki Konaka.
