In Layer 12 he betrays his enforcers and reveals that he has sided with Eiri Masami, causing the deaths of both Men in Black.
According to Visual Experiments Lain and Scenario Experiments Lain, his name is Kurosawa (黒沢), but even that may be a pseudonym. A footnote in Scenario Experiments Lain states that the part of the scene in which he introduces himself by name was omitted.
