As a consequence, all the characters who were playing a role linked to Lain returned to their normal lives. The only people who noticed [[Lain]]'s absence or had any impression of her left were [[Iwakura Yasuo]], her surrogate father, and [[Mizuki Alice]], her best and perhaps only friend.
