Chibi Chibi Lain: The Empire Strikes Back (ちびちびレイン 帝国の逆襲)is a series of six humorous 4-panel comic strips by Yoshitoshi ABe. They feature a chibified Lain in ridiculous situations, generally acting cute and/or vulnerable and often weeping excessively. They appeared in booklets packaged with limited edition Serial Experiments Lain Blu-ray BOX|RESTORE. Whether or not they are included with other DVD or BluRay releases is unconfirmed.

Funimation's 2012 Limited-Edition BD+DVD release came with an English-translated version of the Restore booklet that did not include the comics.

The artist Gomennasai has written some similar comic strips which may have been inspired by ABe's Chibi Chibi Lain. Refer to Fanworks.

There are two other full-page color comics that appeared in the original Restore booklet. The first is 8 panels long, the second is 20 panels. They can be glimpsed momentarily in this unboxing video. Little is known about the first comic; the second comic is confirmed as being included in the original Omnipresence artbook, but not in the ab# rebuild.
