This Lain Iwakura doll was designed by Chiaki J. Konaka, the head writer of Serial Experiments Lain, in the summer of 2000.[1]
This doll had only one variation, featuring Lain Iwakura wearing the bear suit that was featured in the Serial Experiments Lain anime.
At first, the dolls were only sold at events such as Wonder Festival and Comiket, reportedly limited to 100 pieces[1]. On 2001-06-15, they became available for mail order and in-store purchase through Noix De Rome.[2]
There are rumors that there was a prototype for this doll titled Doko Demo Lain-chan ("Anywhere Lain"), but it is probably a fake or a customized doll.[Citation needed]
